We talk the way you would with friends. There is no dialogue to memorise and no conversation to recite.

We talk about real subjects: everyday life, work, culture, current events, France, your experiences — and whatever naturally gets the conversation going.

The aim is to make you search for your words, react, explain, disagree, tell a story and ask questions in French. Each time you retrieve and reuse a word or structure, it becomes easier to access the next time.

Little by little, the French you have learned becomes French you can actually use.

Do you have a specific topic to work on — something you’ve already studied, an exam to prepare for, or a particular set of vocabulary to deepen? I can prepare a tailored vocabulary sheet for us to use as a starting point.

I let you finish your thought, then we look together at what could be improved: pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, word order or a more natural way to say something. You immediately rephrase it, so the correction becomes active without constantly breaking the flow of the conversation.

As I listen, I also identify recurring difficulties: sounds you regularly mispronounce, structures you avoid, grammar mistakes that keep returning, or words you know but struggle to use spontaneously. Those patterns help me decide what needs attention next.

Your shared online document keeps track of corrections, useful expressions, recurring difficulties and points to review. You can come back to it at any time.

What I notice during one lesson can also shape what we work on the following week, so the course develops around the real needs of the group rather than following a fixed script.

Three people create a real conversation: you listen to different voices, react to each other, exchange ideas and learn to follow a discussion that is no longer just between you and your teacher.

At the same time, the group stays small enough for me to listen carefully to each person, notice recurring difficulties and make sure everyone has genuine speaking time. It feels much closer to semi-private tuition than to a traditional group class.

My Bordeaux conversation groups are one of the few formats where I take the lesson out into the city. We meet in lively places, often over a coffee or tea, and create the kind of atmosphere you would have with a small group of friends.

The setting is informal, but I am still teaching: listening, correcting, asking questions, helping you express an idea more precisely and making sure everyone takes part.

As the group gets to know each other, speaking French becomes part of a real weekly routine. You are not only preparing to use French in real life — you are already using it in real life.

One conversation class a week will not transform your French overnight. What it does is create a regular speaking habit.

Each week, you retrieve vocabulary, reuse structures, hear other people speak, receive corrections and become more familiar with expressing yourself in French. Progress is often gradual and difficult to measure from one lesson to the next — but over time, French becomes less something you study and more a language you use.
